Hey fam,
Sounds like you all are staying busy and being spiritually fed. Excellent work. We are slowly working to move our investigators to the baptismal font. Problem is people don't seem to have a lot of time for us to visit with them and share the most important message they'll ever hear! But the Lord's work will go forward! I love ya fam

Yep, I got Grandma's package :) It was wonderful. I'm still enjoying the munchies. I'm sending her a mothers day card and I'll thank her in it.

Hey Lindz!
Glad you finally got to date your fiance, ha ha. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Of course I'm going to be jealous that you get to LIVE in HAWAII, but like you said, going around talking to crazies and bearing my testimony is pretty fun as well ;) That's funny that you were attacked by chip monks! I got too hold somebodies pet humming bird the other week... But then it died :( anywho, thanks for the reminder about thinking for what can help my investigators. Sometimes I lose sight of this and only look for things that can help me. Well you have fun in Hawaii! I bet you'll be sitting on the beach thinking, 'man, I wish I could be out there bearing my testimony!' Ha ha you're awesome Lindsey :) Tell Carlton thanks for the letter. Keep the Faith!

Dear Family,
Things are heating up here in Fremont. We got 8 new investigators this past week, and committed 2 to baptism :) And the weather is also, yesterday was the first day that was actually too uncomfortably warm. Ha ha I had a funny experience while on splits with my fellow greenie Elder Collins the other day. We knock this door and this 20 year old Mexican gangster answers the door and immediately invites us in and leads us through this house to this wood shed in the backyard where I guess he lives. He has us sit down and immediately puts this crate in front of the door way and i find myself thinking, " Oh my goodness, he's going to kill us" But we end up teaching him and then he takes us to his gang of like 10 guys down the street and we say a prayer with them after they ask us if we'd like any weed or booz. We said no to that of course, and then after teaching them a little we left. It was scary/really cool. But Jose, the main guy said we could go back and teach him so that is cool. Well I have to go, but thank you so much for your prayers. Love, Elder Flake
Hey bro :)
You say Elder the exact same way, just pronounced a little different. You guys got second out of everyone in the race?! Like including college kids and everyone? That's sweet! I've heard Avatar was pretty amazing. Especially watching on that big screen. Ya the rubics cube isn't that tough if you have some one that knows how to do it show you step by step.
I climbed mission peak finally today:) It's not even 3,000 feet, but you start pretty much at sea level and it's around 5 miles so it was pretty tough. I had to pretty much drag this deaf elder who's balance wasn't too great up the mountain. He's from New York and has never been on a hike before. There were some great views and i took some pics that I will send home as soon as I receive that other memory card.
Well bro, keep doin work and stuff. Did you finish the B.O.M yet this year with seminary? I love that book. I've been reading about King Benjamin lately. That man was amazing. He's huge on serving and humility ( Calls us unworthy creatures, created from the dust ). We really do owe everything to God. That's something I really need to work on. Well, love ya dude - Elder Flake

Hey,
I remember that day when we went down to say goodbye to Jake. Time does fly. Tell Jake hello for me please. I've already completed a whole transfer out here! Nothing changed in my department: Same companion, same area. But this time around we want different results... a.k.a baptisms :)
Elder Burton is a fun loving guy who is real easy to get along with, so that's nice. In our free time, at night, he plays the Ukulele while I write in my journal (still haven't missed a day :) And then he's been helping me figure out the Rubicks cube and I finally accomplished it the other day! I feel so smart :) ha ha not really. So it has been raining like every P-day! And like only on P-days! So I still have not climbed mission peak, but because it has been raining the hills are still green so hopefully they will still be green when we finally get the chance to hike it. We do laundry at the centerville Elder's place. They actually have a house, that is small, but nice. It even has tree's of oranges, avacados, and lemons so we never have to buy any of those so that is a plus.
We usually: play card games, throw Elder Bartel's (My district leader) rugby, or just enjoy listening to the combination of my comp playing his Ukulele and Elder Cannon (who just got transferred ) playing his guitar- while we do our laundry. And usually we get a few games of b-ball in, 5 on 5, with a combination of Elders and members. It's fun.
This Alex kid I've talked a bit about should have a baptisimal date by weeks end. We haven't talked to his parents yet, who sadly don't appear to interested, but we will this week. Alex is a good kid. A big problem we are finding out here is that people are to busy for the gospel. So of them think they are too busy, while others really are.
California's economy is definitely not doing the best right now, What is the Governator doing?, so lots of the cool people we meet are literally working almost every minute of the day, so it's hard to find a time to teach them. And trying to find a time to teach a whole family is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. So ya, we still have fun in the work though. We talk with some crazy people down here. One guy, ha ha totally thought he knew us, The first thing he says is 'Hey, I'm still on probation' hmm. And then he tells us that he 'saw Jesus down in San Diego' so we try and give him a card and get out of there, but then he writes a message on the card like "Hi Jesus, I love you" and then he signed it and gave it back to us. So we're not sure if he was high or crazy or what, but he was nice :) So that was fun.
Well I'm glad Lindz is getting to spend some time with Carlton. And yes, I recived the Easter package :) It was awesome thanks. The guns were fun and I especially enjoyed a different type of cereal every day for a week :) Did you ever get the letter with the memory card? If you send it back Ill send you some more pics. Well I love you so much and thank Heavenly Father every day for such an awesome family :)

Hey fam!
Supai looked fun!/different. Ya we are going back for sure in a couple years! So conference was AWESOME! Was it just because I'm in the field or have they all been this awesome? The work is going better. Our 13 year old investigator Alex came to a session and enjoyed it somewhat. We also had an awesome first lesson with his fam; like 8 people. We painted Easter eggs with a less active family and read about the Resurrection with them. It was nice.
I loved President Uchdorf's and Scott's talks on the Resurrection and Love. I love my Savior! I don't have much time but I'll leave you with something I believe Elder Andersen said in conference '2 people can do anything, as long as one of them is the Lord' -Awesome! The Lord is truly helping me; both with the language and the work. Thank you for you prayers.
Love Elder Flake
